Beachbody on Demand is Blowing Up!

Even though I have purchased the DVDs for my programs, I'm starting to use Beachbody on Demand more and more because of all the benefits it is starting to offer.

  1. When you play the DVDs you have to wait for the required warnings to play. With BoD, it's a button click and I'm on my way. This busy mom needs all the time I can get.
  2. It keeps track of where I am in my workout so I can be sure I stick to the program as designed and I don't have to worry keeping track on the paper calendar. That may seem small but at 4:30 am it's very helpful.
  3. You get bonus workouts like Cize with Chilli from TLC.
  4. You get to preview workouts before purchasing.
  5. I can stream it through my Apple TV to get it on a big screen.
Best yet! It now has digital unlocks.  Beachbody On Demand subscribers can unlock a full Purchased Program without ordering the DVD kit. When you pay to unlock a Beachbody Purchased Program, you get unlimited access to stream it as long as you are a Premium Team Beachbody member. You will also receive access to the online downloads of the nutritional program guides and workout calendars. No shipping costs or waiting for delivery. In addition to the unlocks, you can also sample these workouts and others, such as PiYo. This is in addition to the workout of the day that allows you to get a sneak peak at workouts as well.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Beachbody on Demand is about to blow up.

PiYo is My Soybeans

Have you had a moment where you were wondering if you should try a workout and the next week it is the monthly Beachbody promotion?  That was totally me.  I want something to do in between rounds of 21 Day Fix.  Kind of like rotating your crop fields.  Wow, I have been in farm country way too long.  Twelve years ago I didn't even know you had to rotate your crop fields.  So 21 Day Fix is my corn and PiYo may become my soybeans.  Seriously, I need to stop.  Take me back to the beach!! I would love to do this program with someone.  Let me know if you are interested.

Happy Thursday!

21 Day Fix Challenge Group

Busy Moms! In need of more energy to juggle everything? You are going to think I am crazy; but, I am asking you to add one more thing to To Do list.
Exercise helps you to gain energy, improve your mood, get better sleep and feel more confident. 21 Day Fix makes that all obtainable with daily 30 minute workouts.
Change your relationship with food using the easy to follow nutrition plan and portion controlled container system.
Bring it all together by drinking Shakeology. A daily dose of simple nutrition that helps to reduce hunger and food cravings; includes antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals; helps with the effects of stress (perfect for the busy school year) and helps with healthy digestion. I love the chocolate.
The best part is you don't have to do this on your own. I have a group starting on September 14th. The group offers support and accountability. We will be cheering each other on as we meet our goals.
30 minute workouts. Easy to follow Meal Plan. Accountability. Support.
Send a me a message with the Subject: I am ready! I will contact you with on how to get started. Take care of you! No one else can.

There Are No Coincidences.

A few weeks ago I posted about a surgery I had in the winter to remove atypical cells. Last week I met with my doctor and two screening and prevention nurses. One nurse explained to me that because of my diagnosis my risks for getting breast cancer have increased, 25% chance in my lifetime. She then proceeded to explain to me that staying at a low weight with exercise and a healthy diet will keep my risks down, especially when I reach menopause age. I almost started the doing the ugly cry. The timing of me starting my fitness journey and deciding to become a Beachbody coach was not lost on me. I already knew that starting the 21 Day Fix program was a lifestyle change but I'm definitely a lifer now! There are no coincidences! God is good!

Back to School Accountability Group

I saw so many friends start a workout program this summer. I hate to see it come to an end. Don't stop working towards your goals once the kids go back to school and the activities start up again. Join me for 2 weeks on August 31st and together we will keep up the good work. Walking, running, going to the gym, at home workouts... what ever you love to do. This group is all about motivation and accountability. Are you in?

Thankful for my exercise bra.

I'm usually a private person but this is a post that has been on my mind. I say if you can't stop thinking about something then go for it.
In my posts you may have read comments about me having to take a break from exercise for a few months this year. I’ve never shared why that was. About 7 months ago I was changing after working out and my thumb brushed over a lump. The kind of lump that you couldn’t just brush off as it is probably nothing. An appointment with my primary care doctor left with me getting a mammogram done six years before the recommend age. My doctor thought that it was probably a cyst but because of the size we agreed it needed to be looked into further. The mammogram turned into another mammogram which turned into a sonogram which lead me to a nurse’s office. At each step my husband and I knew that something wasn’t right. The good news was that my doctor was right. The lump I had found was just a cyst. What wasn’t okay was the tiny group of cells clustered together. The results of the biopsy that followed gave me the diagnosis of atypical cells. It was not cancer but it was not “nothing”. Come January, and numerous tests, doctor appointments visits and hours of just wanting an answer, I was having surgery to remove the atypical cells. I’ll never forget the moment when the doctor was explaining the procedure when it donned on me that I was not going to be able to continue the 21 Day Fix program during recovery. It donned on my husband at the same time and it was he that asked the question,” What about working out?” I loved him for that. I knew the answer before asking but I appreciated that he took the time to ask. But you can’t do a chest press after having your boob operated on. So why am I bringing this up now? Yesterday, I had my six month MRI follow up. Afterwards the technician told me to sit tight for twenty to thirty minutes because sometimes the doctor wants a follow up sonogram. Words I had heard before. I will admit my first thought was not positive. I immediately thought, “Oh no, this is how it started last time.” What was probably only five to ten minutes later, the technician was back to say I was free to go and that my results will be mailed. I’m taking no news as good news. And for that I am thankful. I am thankful that in October I decided to start a workout program (again). I’m thankful that I fell in love with the 21 Day Fix program and continued to exercise. I’m thankful for the exercise bra that I was wearing that caused me to feel the lump. Had I not I still would not have had a mammogram even today. The atypical cells would still be there and may not have been found for five more years (I’ve since had a birthday).

Fit Inspired: How my scale motivates me and keeps me accountable.

Let me start by saying that the scale is not the only indicator of losing weight.  There are other Non-Scale Victories (NSV) that can show you that working out and healthy eating is working.  You can lose inches before you see the number on the scale go down.  Or your clothes can start fitting loser.  That's why I suggest taking measurements and pictures before starting a program.  If you get discouraged with the scale number taking your measurements or picture again can be the motivator you need to keep going.

That being said one of my motivators is my scale.  Say what?  No, I did not type that wrong.  I have had the same scale since I started my fitness journey 9 years ago.  So how does it keep me motivated?

This particular scale allowed you to enter your starting weight and your goal weight.  Every time I weight myself this scale tells me what I currently weight, of course, but then it shows me how many pounds I have lost, my starting weight and my goal weight.  I have never changed the starting weight.  Why?

It reminds me of where I have come from.  It makes me not take my hard work for granted.  To date, I have lost the equivalent to a toddler.  And if you are trying to see the number I will tell you that I was 10 pounds heavier right after having my first child.  (Side note:  I will never forget the nurse telling me she only weighed 6 lbs.  I instantly knew the rest was mine to lose.)  When I see that I have passed my entered goal weight it reminds me that you never achieve your fitness goals, you just make new ones.  Success is a journey.  Not a destination.

Be Inspired.

Fit Inspired: Becoming a Beachbody Coach

It's funny sometimes how things choose you versus you choosing them.  If you had asked me a year ago if I would be a Beachbody coach I would have said no.  My happy place is my kitchen.  The best part of my day is hearing my family say that dinner was the high of their day.  Through the years and many diets later I developed a desire to know the why's behind food.  It started with Weight Watchers and their formula.  Why calories, fat and fiber? And then later why carb, fat, fiber and protein? And when they did away with food pyramid and created My Plate I researched the why again. I thought all my research had us eating a pretty healthy.

After I had my first daughter I started to workout.  It was out of necessity really.  Baby weight, we've all been there.  This is when the lightbulb went off that it really does take diet and exercise.
Fast forward to September 2014.  I was getting back into a workout program after having taken off for a surgery the year prior.  I wasn't getting the results I wanted and my niece was getting married.  I always say a wedding one of the top motivators for weight loss.  Everyone was talking about 21 Day Fix and how much success they were having, so I thought I would give it a try.  I learned that I was wrong about how healthy we were eating and that the term "clean eating" wasn't so scary after all.  Our dinners are still delicious and they are still the high of my family's day.  I love that the workouts are 30 minutes.  I'm excited to see that Beachbody is moving forward with more 30 min workouts.

I have always wanted give back what I have learned.  I joined my company's Wellness Program and learned that I love being in a position to assist others with wellness.  It has been a great stepping stone to becoming a Beachbody coach.

Keep an eye out for some upcoming Challenge Groups!

Be Inspired.
